"Where'd all the Good People Go?"

There is now a site published where you can only join if you're beautiful. This site is the end to flipping through the unattractive options on say Eharmony, or Match.com. This site judges you on looks and looks alone. 48hrs. That's all. Just 48hrs to let the members of the site judge a photo of you, "Options are: "Yes definitely," "Hmm yes, O.K," "Hmm no, not really" and "No definitely not." Your admission depends on your physical appeal. If the users decide that you are simple just too ugly to join as a member, don't worry, you can still view the pages as a guest.

My opinion. This site is a joke, however, a horrible statement about the society we live in today. People are becoming more judgemental about looks and not personality. This site is a shallow one, a self-esteem booster if you are admitted to the site. And a self-esteem burner if you are denied. People are falling apart. The bottom line of this site IS YOUR LOOKS!
Here's a line from the article; because British people are apparently the most unappealing people in the world:

"I would say Britain is stumbling because they don't spend as much time polishing up their appearance and they are letting themselves down on physical fitness," Beautiful People managing director Greg Hodge said. "Next to Brazilian and Scandinavian beauties, British people just aren't as toned or glamorous."

We are beginning to let the media and others define us for us. Jack Johnson is right. Where'd all the good people go?

Missing: Account

I can relate to the whole Facebook lost my account ordeal.' Luckily I have not lost an account, but my sister awhile back had. We couldn't find hers anywhere. So we created a new one for her. Well now she has two, because the other one decided to show up. She doesn't use it, so I tell her to delete it and she doesn't care. But to the point.
The amount of lost accounts on Facebook did not ere well with its dedicated users. Many responded by venting on Twitter, others simply state sayings such as, "I'm starting to think the Federal Deficit will be paid off before Facebook gets my original profile back. Anybody want to take bets?" Though frustrating, Facebook is an ever growing network, can we expect things like this to happen on occasion? Yeah. However, this should be able to cut down on the chances of losing our accounts in the future. Hopefully this won't happen again for quite awhile.

Texting and Driving

Okay, so finally getting a new password set up I may now post a new...um..post. Anywho.
So texting and driving. I am with the ban. I mean, come on. It's like drinking and driving; anything that inihibits your senses and such to what's happening around you should not be allowed. I only text, if I text at all, at a stoplight. I answer my phone more frequently but I try and make sure I have the earpiece with me, though, I don't always use it.
The deaths and accidents nowadays seem to be increasing due to the cell phone use and such. It's addicting. You think "Just one time, real quick"- but it becomes easier and easier to do it each time, and soon your doing it when your driving just as you would talk to a friend in the car. It's scary, scary for the driver and for those around him/her. I know that several times I was almost in an accident due to someone chatting away on their phone, ignoring the fact that their light just turned red. Or wow, that was a STOP sign, not a yeild. They would realized these things too late. Now for truckers and people like my Dad for example who may need to have their cell phone on and with them, I'm cool with that. They're making a call or looking for directions. The ban I hope they will enforce is the typical teenage texting etc... I mean, if you think about it, it's just as bad as drinking and driving...that's just my opinion. What's yours?

Really Facebook?

I don't know whether to embrace this new feature or what. I liked facebook because of the simplicity, apparently a lot of other people did too. Not only is facebook now increasingly becoming a meeting place monster of a site, but it's getting all these new applications.
One side of me thinks, "cool, I mean, group chats are pretty sweet," but what if you don't want to chat to somebody? Will the real time chats have the same new capabilities as instant messaging? Where you'll be able to block someone from seeing that you are on? I think it's just sort of a computer burn out. I mean personally, I don't see WHY we need it but then on the other hand we have a lot of stuff we don't NEED.

Actually, I just got to thinking, I mean it just hit me literally. This is one of those cases that can go either way. I mean, it beats sending video messages in the sense while your recording it's just you and the screen...awkward. However, with live chat I'll be able to chat with (and this idea popped in my head) my grandma. If she's on. Again, there's the telephone for things like that. But it only proves my point that we like options and convenience; it doesn't matter if we NEED it at that time.

Cyber News

THE BEATLES on Rock Band!

Yes, it's been said the newest addition to Rock Band's line is a re-reincarnation of one of the most influential bands of all time; The Beatles. Unlike most video games however this one is appealing in more ways than the graphic appeal and music, as stated in the New York Times article, "Never before has a video game had such intergenerational cultural resonance." That's what makes this game more appealing. Laden with beautiful graphics, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and John Lennon come alive; capturing the interest of this generation and the one before it. It's said that the true message of the Beatles is shown through this game and that their music is brought alive. And what makes this such a great game, is that YOU and friends get to recreate the music all over again.

A game for all generations. For gamers and music lovers, this may be the game of the season.
And I personally can't wait to try it out =)

The first post EVER!

Hey!

So just to answer a few questions that I have been asked each school year. My name is Ashton, and though I do have nicknames I would like to stick to my name as is. I am taking a full load of classes complete with 18 credits. I currently don't really have a JTCC major. I am hoping to get my Associates Degree and transfer. I'm browsing some schools in the area and don't plan to go out of state, looking to pursue a theater major down the line =).
My academic future hopefully holds something good. I plan to pursue my studies and my goal is to eventually establish a steady acting career, and to just be happy in whatever I plan to do or whatever happens along the way. Plans may change, but if I enjoy what I do, then I'll consider my 'goal' reached.
I really enjoy the computer, though sometimes I supposes it can get a bit boring. You can only go on facebook so many times. I have many interests, so web browsing on the computer expands my enjoyment of my interests. For instance, I would say half of my computer time, or a quarter of my computer time would be trying to find the chords/tabs to songs for guitar =) Or looking at an art video on youtube that my grandma sent me =). The computer is also a way to keep in touch withmy family and friends, I moved from New York so email helps me keep in touch with my friends 'n stuff =). So the internet isn't as much as a hobby as much as it's just a way to further expand my other hobbies.
I have a part-time job at Hallmark, I really enjoy it. My full-time job would be being a student.
I like/love many things haha. I have many interests. I am a competitive person who loves playing sports; softball, basketball, horse-back riding, karate, soccer...I've done a lot of sports. I also love to draw, paint, write (poetry etc...), I love to play my guitar <3 Sooooooooo much. I've been sorta teaching myself the instrument the past two years, I learn something new about it everyday. I've also liked to dabble into writing some songs. The list goes on but I'm going to close for now. I think I've covered a good amount for a first post =)
