I don't know whether to embrace this new feature or what. I liked facebook because of the simplicity, apparently a lot of other people did too. Not only is facebook now increasingly becoming a meeting place monster of a site, but it's getting all these new applications.
One side of me thinks, "cool, I mean, group chats are pretty sweet," but what if you don't want to chat to somebody? Will the real time chats have the same new capabilities as instant messaging? Where you'll be able to block someone from seeing that you are on? I think it's just sort of a computer burn out. I mean personally, I don't see WHY we need it but then on the other hand we have a lot of stuff we don't NEED.
Actually, I just got to thinking, I mean it just hit me literally. This is one of those cases that can go either way. I mean, it beats sending video messages in the sense while your recording it's just you and the screen...awkward. However, with live chat I'll be able to chat with (and this idea popped in my head) my grandma. If she's on. Again, there's the telephone for things like that. But it only proves my point that we like options and convenience; it doesn't matter if we NEED it at that time.
